 Types of Companies

Under the existing Companies Ordinance, companies can be classified into the following 8 types:

1. Private companies – limited by shares
2. Non-Private companies – limited by shares
3. Private companies – limited by guarantee without a share capital
4. Non-Private companies – limited by guarantee without a share capital
5. Private unlimited companies with a share capital
6. Non-private unlimited companies with a share capital
7. Private unlimited companies without a share capital
8. Non-Private unlimited companies without a share capital

 

After the commencement of the new Companies Ordinance, companies types of companies that can be formed are:

 

1. Private company limited by shares
2. Public company limited by shares
3. Company limited by guarantee (without a share capital)
4. Private unlimited company with a share capital
5. Public unlimited company with a share capital
